Job Description
Responsible to prepare accurate estimates for projects and contractual estimates by gathering information and analyzing; important metrics especially related to hvac and plumbing. Provide knowledge of labor and material costs, and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The Estimator will incorporate quality control initiatives and tasks along with the estimates and bids for HVAC and MEP and projects for residential, institutional, educational, and commercial projects or jobs. A major part of this position is to review documents and identify project bid requirements, the scope of work, critical schedule and sequences, non-standard work conditions, cost impacts, material and equipment data, safety and compliance requirements, risk management, strong project management, and special requirements. Manage the bid process from documents, strong project management and design through job kickoff meeting. Participates and assist leading in review of quality of all materials at site and ensure compliance to all project specifications; and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards and monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes and recommend corrective actions for all processes. It is expected of the estimator with quality control skills will establish and achieve strong team/management and customer relationships by proactively seeking problem resolution.
Self-starter with good forward planning and make good judgements/assessments in relation to budget costs from limited information.
• Work closely with other professionals including building managers, construction managers, planners, and design teams and good team working skills are essential
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) is preferred
• Familiarity with financial and project management principles
• Proficient in relevant software and computerized systems
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
• Thoroughness, accuracy, reliability, and quality conscience
• Good organizational skills
• Perform inspection on parts and sub-assemblies using inspection tools, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings
• Knowledge of quality control processes and improvements; and ability to perform auditing and testing
• Understand and interpret manufacturing and quality assurance procedures, standards, and guidelines including performing inspections at vendor sites and assist with vendor related issues, concerns and certification, and codes/permits
• Must have a valid driver's license and driving record from motor vehicle administration
• Have effective communications skills
• Proactive in conflict resolution
