Payroll Clerk

Pay is $22 per hour

90 Day Contract to Hire Position

Perm Salary Range - $40,398 - $46,000/year

Monday - Friday - 8:00am-5:00pm

Location - Downtown Kansas City, MO

Job Duties:

- Responsible for the processing of county finance payroll, journal vouchers, general ledger transfers and/or corrections.

- Processes pay authorization and pay changes documents, prepares journal vouchers which redistribute payroll cost, research pay and payroll questions from payroll clerks and county employees.

- Prepares and controls manual payroll checks, prepare and distribute bi-weekly departmental payrolls; controls the preparation, editing, and issuance of Form W-2; and assists in the preparation of the computer-generated check creation process as determined by the Payroll Supervisor or other designated supervisory personnel

- Assists department supervisory staff in the development and the implementation of new payroll procedures and techniques.

- Advises the Budget and Personnel staff regarding payroll and personnel policies

Minimum Qualifications:

- Associate degree with one year experience in payroll accounting experience OR three years of work experience in payroll accounting.

- Must submit to/pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
