Job Description


Responsible for all planning and completion of Avionics aircraft related tasks, while ensuring the safety, training, and production of team members, with minimal supervision.


  • Lead and coordinate the aircraft related activities including installation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting for Avionics Technicians, while participating as working member of the crew.
  • Accomplish and oversee complex operational checks leading to the final return-to-service.
  • Train employees in work methods and procedures, strictly in accordance with engineering drawings, manufacturer’s specifications, Company Process Standards and Airplane Maintenance Manuals.
  • Read, interpret and follow Wiring Schematics, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and drawings for modifications.
  • Utilize various testing devices, meters and electrician’s tools to inspect, test and repair wiring, components and instrumentation in various aircraft systems including AFS, communications, navigation, flight controls, etc.
  • Inspect subordinates’ work to maintain compliance with standards and quality of workmanship.
  • Document all aircraft related actions in accordance with the Repair Station Manual, Quality System Manual and appropriate regulatory guidance. Ensure all paperwork requirements are kept current with job progress.
  • Interface with opposite shift regarding daily requirements; produce complete and accurate shift turnover logs.
  • Report any unserviceable tooling, machinery, or equipment required for efficient production.
  • Prepare and submit all required documentation to Quality Control during completion of projects.
  • Inspect for, and report all non-airworthy aircraft, components or articles.
  • Interact with other departments to achieve production goals including timeliness and budgets while maximizing efforts to meet customer requirements.
  • Plan for and requisition parts and materials including long-lead time items.
  • Promptly report any problems associated with carrying out work assignments including non-availability of parts, materials, improper workflow, drawing discrepancies, etc.
  • Maintain and record accurate time accounting records in CIMA; verify subordinates’ reporting.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with company standards.
  • Complete initial / recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Adhere and enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship for the team.
  • Prioritize and assign tasks; examine work output for completeness, process conformance and timeliness.
  • Assist in carrying out administrative duties such as production timekeeping, incident / accident reports, and other documentation / reporting in a timely manner.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Education or equivalent reading, writing, and math abilities.
  • 7+ years airplane avionics experience.
  • Previous lead experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Avionics systems including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding in the use of Precision measuring tools as well as basic tools.
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software and other company and discipline specific software applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and plan work.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours or second shift, when needed.


  • Read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings.


  • Must be properly certificated per FAR Part 65, Repairman’s or Airframe & Powerplant licenses.

  • Exerting/lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or 25 lbs. frequently.
  • Use of hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate precision tools / measuring equipment.
  • Ability to maneuver in and out of and work in tight cramped areas; motions include standing, sitting, kneeling, working overhead and crawling.
  • Ability to work at heights which includes climbing ladders, aircraft maintenance stands; operate boom lifts, forklifts and platform lifts.


  • Occasional travel may be required; the employee filling this position must be willing to travel on short notice and possibly for extended periods.

  • Standard office environments.
  • Exposure to noise, smells, dust and fumes typically associated in an aviation environment.
  • Regular use of sharp tools, heating elements / solder irons, sealants and solvents.
  • Close proximity to several industrial hazards including electrical, mechanical and chemical.
  • Occasional work at heights upwards to 60 feet.
