Summary:
Operator in this position sets up, operate and adjust a variety of mechanical and hydraulic controlled straightening presses to form, straighten and flatten high quality close tolerance parts and materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Identify shop aids and/or holding fixtures to be used, as required. Attach machine accessories, tools, fixtures, and shop aids using bolts, wrenches and clamps.
• Plans assembly procedures, following specifications.
• Removes small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
• Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
• Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
• Bends and installs pipe for hydraulic systems.
• Aligns and meshes gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
• Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
