Location: Remote *

Clearance Level: Active Secret (Must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI)

Summary/Description:

ALEX is now hiring a skilled Senior Data Analyst-Logistics SME for an immediate opening to join our Velocity Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) team. The Senior Data Analyst-Logistics SME will support data collection, subsequent analyses and validation of various data sets ingested and processed with our Velocity AI/ML tools. This position will provide critical quality assurance through our data pipeline and delivery processes and serve as a key point-of-contact with external teammates and customers when processing authoritative data ALEX sourced for their project goals. More specifically, the Senior Data Analyst-Logistics SME will:

*The SR Data Analyst - LOG SME position consists of mostly remote work (excluding Colorado) with occasional travel to the contractor site in the National Capital Region, so preference will be given to local candidates or those willing to relocate.

Duties include:

  • Support data analysis requirements, logistics data cleansing and reconciliation of data across all classes of supply, internal or external to ALEX.
  • Perform and coordinate data validation and quality assurance activities (QA) related to data migration and prior to tool deployment.
  • Coordinate selection and migration of required authoritative logistics records and data required by various military stakeholders, contracted teammates, and end users to meet their scheduled delivery timelines.
  • Participate in and conduct Verification and Validation of migrated data.
  • Provide expert logistics data-related support to an integrated technology team leveraging subject matter expertise of logistics information systems and supplied data used by Marine Air Ground Task Forces, Naval Task Groups/Forces, and typical warfighting Joint Task Forces.
  • Prepare required presentations and actively participate in briefings with military and civil service personnel from various backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Assist with data modeling, metrics, data processes and analytic improvement techniques that could support current and future logistical concepts and operations research analysts assigned at the USMC Wargaming Center.
  • Facilitate and support customer-initiated logistics studies, programs, and analytical efforts at the USMC Wargaming Center.
  • As the Logistics SME, interface with a highly technical team of AI/ML software engineers, data scientists, and web developers, plus external Modeling and Simulation technical experts to assist with their data collection, model development and integration that supports the USMC Wargaming Center.

This position can be performed remotely anywhere in the United States (excluding Colorado). The candidate will be also be required to travel to the contractor site in the National Capital Region on a quarterly basis if required by the customer.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance must be current and active.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a USMC Logistician, U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer or Naval Aviation Maintenance or Supply background with management proficiency in associated logistics-related Automated Information Systems (AIS). (15 years preferred).
  • Must have served as a staff member representing the logistics functional area of an Operational Planning Team for a one-star command or higher.
  • Experience soliciting, gathering, and analyzing user inputs and data requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with team members from other warfighting disciplines, domains, and technologies.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence systems and Machine Learning.
  • Experience participating in research studies and analyses.
  • Working knowledge of current and future USMC and Naval expeditionary Logistics Concepts of Operations.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Logistics Data (FEDLOG), Web Federal Logistics Information System (WebFLIS) and Logistics Functional Area Services (LOGFAS) Logistics Systems.
  • In depth experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Python and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, NoSQL and S3 data repositories.
  • Operational experience in one or more of the following logistics areas: ordnance/ammunition, supply (equipment density lists and Tables of Allowances), bulk fuels/liquids, food service, embarkation, transportation systems, repairable systems, health services, and maintenance management.
  • Knowledge and experience of military aircraft and equipment maintenance processes across multiple echelons (organizational, intermediate, and depot levels of maintenance and support).

Education, Certifications and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration with minor concentration in data systems or data management.
  • An assigned Military Occupational Specialty as a logistics officer, or Navy designator supply officer or aircraft maintenance or supply officer.
  • Preference given to candidates with a graduate degree in logistics/supply chain management or management/leadership.
  • Preference given to candidates with Acquisition and/or Life Cycle Logistics Certifications or advanced logistics professional military education and/or training.
