Job Description

 

Title: Database Engineer/Analyst

Location: Washington, DC

Clearance Level: TS/SCI

Summary/Description:
ALEX is looking for a strong results driven Database Engineer/Analyst to support an enterprise-level data migration program.

The ideal candidate works with the team to:

  • Triaging existing data (structured and unstructured) and entering it into the created templates. 
  • Triaging received survey data on each office’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and processing the data into charts and reports. 
  • Running use cases/use stories of existing data. 
  • Collaborate with the Journeyman Human Factors Engineer in the analysis of use cases/use stories.
  • Provide data definitions, establishes data quality expectations, ensures compliance with those expectations, and analyzes and applies data.
  • Streamline data collection and analysis procedures to ensure quick access to metrics.
  • Move information from the databases/platforms to the new environment.  
  • Develop and enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting to support the programmatic and strategic goals. 
  • Make recommendations about the methods used to obtain and analyze data to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Implement controls and compliance metrics to reduce data issues and improve data quality and integrity.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve the quality of data management systems, processes, and standards.
  • Perform database queries, constructs data sets, and prepares analysis reports.
  • Maintain databases.
  • Assist with application testing.
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve all database issues related to performance, capacity, and access and ensures data integrity and quality in database systems.
  • Maintain standard policies for database development activities. 
  • Work closely with Data Ops Lead,  SME and Software engineers to manage and monitor performance, capacity and security of database systems. 
  • Prepare documentation regarding database design, configuration and change management tasks. 
  • Ensure compliance with Government data standards and records management policies.
  • Develop backup and recovery capabilities, as well as contributes to disaster recovery/business continuity plans. 
  • Use Sybase and/or Postgres databases.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Meet and maintain active Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance requirement.
  • Level II or III IAT Certification (required)
  • Experience with Data Lake, ingestion process, ETL, workflow automation, BPM/BPMN workflow engines; NLP tools libraries, frameworks; AI/ML framework tools (configure).

Education and Certifications:

  • BA/BS and 5-14 years of experience (additional 4 years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree)
