Monterey Park Hospital, located in San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is recruiting for a full time Human Resource Generalist. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. The Hospital employs approximately 480 clinical and non-clinical staff. The HR Generalist will interact and communicate with all levels of staff internally and with Corporate.
The HR Generalist will assist in providing a wide range of HR support to the HR Team, hospital staff and management. This position will primarily focus on leaves of absence, workers compensation injury data collection, investigations and document review, employment separations, employee relations and benefits administration for new hires and open enrollment. The HR Generalist is expected to have the ability to work independently, have excellent organizational and problem solving skills, can multi-task, is flexible and can work in an ever changing work environment. To ensure success, the HR Generalist should exhibit a knowledge of federal and state leave laws, workers comp experience and experience working in a union environment. The HR Generalist may assist in recruitment, on-boarding and training to provide support to the department as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Ensures employees understand FMLA/CFRA/PDL/Military/ General/ Kin Care/CA Paid Sick leave laws and other types of leaves of absence. Notifies the employee in writing timely following applicable federal and state laws and company policy. The HR Generalist is aware of all company resources available to employees when a request for a leave of absence is received.
+ Keeps current up with the California Department of Labor Laws updates and ensures compliance with all California Labor Laws and HR policies.Provides guidance on a range of HR policies and union contract language to support staff and management understanding and ensures effective communication of HR practices.
+ Manages Workers Compensation program from injury to close of case.Communicates with Corporate and TPA Claims Administrator for timely claim closures.
+ Prepares benefit packets for new hires, processes major life event mid year changes, status changes and coordinates the annual Open Enrollment meetings.
+ Participates in HR audits of new hires and contract staff for accurate data and paperwork
+ Maintains compliance with current year Joint Commission HR Standards and ensures HR compliance.
+ Data entry and Report Writing using HRMS system.
+ Coordinates various HR projects.
Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
Experience: Three to six years experience in a Human Resources department required. Hospital/Healthcare HR experience preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations required
- Knowledge of the coordination of various leave of absence requests with FMLA/CFRA/PDL/Workers Compensation required
- Knowledge of workers compensation programs, modified duty, claims review with TPA and interactive process required
- Knowledge of HRMS systems and Report Writing
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission HR Standards preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Products
- Good organizational skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to work independently using critical thinking skills
- Bilingual preferred
