The Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of programs for youth (6th-12th grade) and occasionally parents and other community members in one multifamily apartment community in Arlington. His/her responsibilities include coordinating and implementing educational programs for youth and adults, and community-building activities for all residents. Programs are offered on-site in designated community spaces.
The principle strategies for implementing programs involve direct outreach to residents, management of on-site programs, supervision and retention of volunteers and maintenance of community equipment and resources. Supervise Volunteers: Coordinate and supervise volunteers to work as tutors/mentors and to help meet other community needs. Support volunteers by providing curricula, when appropriate, and other necessary program materials.
Collect and Manage Data to Meet Grant Requirements: Use systems to collect data on how the center is being used and by whom. Compile and enter relevant data in online data base. Assist with the development of ideas for new grant projects and provide qualitative anecdotes to support grant reports.
Maintain Community Spaces and Equipment: Ensure that groups using the community room clean up after each activity and take care of the equipment in each room. Update the bulletin boards and community calendar at each site. Maintain computer equipment by coordinating technical support for adjustments and repairs, as necessary, and upgrades, as possible.
Partnerships: Maintain contact with Arlington Public Schools teachers and counseling staff, Arlington County Community Outreach Program, Arlington Education and Employment Program, and other community partners that aid in the implementation of the center programs. Provide Information and Referrals to Residents: Use resources available to gather information to help residents address their social service and educational needs through programs and agencies available in the larger community. Assist residents in completing forms and applications and help them make linkages to appropriate agencies.
