ADE, Inc., located on the far south side of Chicago, is a manufacturer of unique high-performance packaging products. We are currently seeking a highly creative and motivated individual for the position of Designer. We are looking for a sharp, inquisitive individual who is not sated by only asking “why” but looking for and finding the solution. Candidates should be curious and driven to contribute skills and expertise to enhance company products, procedures, and corporate image. Job will encompass many different avenues including structural packaging design, new product development, marketing graphics and materials, testing and product validation, cost estimation, and other potential responsibilities.

Job Description

The position of Designer will be responsible for creating new and innovative custom packaging solutions that meet customer specific requirements while adhering to company standards, product line relevance, and corporate intellectual properties. Designer will develop, test, analyze, and select materials for the appropriate packaging product based on durability and cost effectiveness to ensure product integrity and protective performance under varying shipping conditions.

Job details:

· Design, prototype, and test custom corrugated packaging structures that meet required criteria as directed by customer through sales team

· Maintain professional outside vendor relationships for quoting raw materials and services as required for each project

· Create and maintain bill of materials, manufacturing specifications, first article inspections, and accurate project documentation

· Work both independently and as part of a team to drive projects to completion in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

· Assist with preparing for customer presentations and trade shows with sample product mock-ups as necessary

· Provide design support for customer service and current customer base


· Experience with CAD software

· Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat

· General Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel and Outlook

· Creativity, organization, and the ability to multi-task and problem-solve

· Mechanical aptitude and creative 3D problem solving skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Passion for design, creative thinker that strives for innovation and unique solutions

· Detail oriented, results focused with positive attitude

· Self-starter able to work with little or no supervision
