Job Summary

We are looking for a veteran of the construction industry to join our factory team. This is an opportunity to shape the direction of a new company and be a key contributor to its success. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in residential construction to help coordinate specialists within the factory and shape a process that guarantees safety and the high quality of our products.  You will be responsible for coordinating daily work with the people working on the factory team as well as coordinating with outside contractors.  To be successful in this role you will have to be open-minded and willing to approach old problems with new techniques, be an excellent mentor, and lead with humility.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hire and lead a diverse, world-class, lean manufacturing team
  • Be a mentor and teacher to all production staff
  • Create a safety culture that proactively resolves issues, maintains a clean factory and adheres to all health and safety regulations
  • Build a team with an unflinching devotion to delivering a quality product that delights our customers
  • Identify production issues, perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation through kaizen and 5S efforts
  • Set production goals and ensure they are visibly tracked throughout the facility
  • Manage scheduling for a fully operational team planned to scale across multiple shifts
  • Coordinate scoping and scheduling of outside contractors as needed
  • Manage flow of material through the production process
  • Ensure products are built to all applicable codes and standards
  • Participate in design reviews and process reviews to continually improve the product and its delivery
  • Take on any role or task in the factory and extended company as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years' residential construction experience with a thorough understanding of trades work
  • 10 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Thorough understanding and ability to interpret all applicable residential building codes
  • Open-minded to new ideas and a creative problem solver with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate effectively with outside agencies/contractors
  • Demonstrated safety leadership and a strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations – Cal/OSHA
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills with demonstrated ability to mentor and teach
  • Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Ability to respectfully voice opinions and collaboratively analyze and resolve difficult problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent with extensive experience required; Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering
  • 5 years as a superintendent or similar role
  • Knowledge of CA building codes
  • Experience managing construction materials
  • Experience with lean, agile or pull planning
  • Experience in off-site construction and crane setting
