Position Summary:

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting in the effective administration of the Corporate Compliance Program by aiding the development, implementation, and execution of the organization-wide compliance monitoring and auditing program that covers contractual, regulatory, accreditation, and HIPAA privacy and security compliance. Developing and managing enterprise- wide policies in conjunction with other business leaders is integral to the position. The Compliance Specialist position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the day-to-day operations of the compliance program
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct
  • Provides support for the development of various compliance training materials and communication projects to support the educational efforts of the compliance program
  • Responsible for assigning, tracking and follow up of compliance and privacy training
  • Performs monthly sanction and exclusion checks on all employees, contractors and vendors
  • Monitors the performance of the compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness
  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of compliance incidents, and generates reports to ensure full resolution of compliance incidents
  • Creates compliance monitoring and performance dashboards to help assess effectiveness of the compliance program and monitor key performance indicators
  • Serves as a resource on the company’s compliance with its policies, laws and regulations
  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
  • Review and monitor adherence to company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Healthcare compliance certification preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing work related to identifying, analyzing, and evaluating compliance issues.
  • Experience working for a Healthcare organization

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
