Electrical Controls Engineer (Hydraulics)

This position is open due to retirement, and with a private owned global company seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot electrical components and controls for large hydraulic compression equipment, molding, and drying machines having application for molding rubber and composite materials, industrial rubber mixers, screw presses for synthetic rubber processing and for the separation of liquids from solids.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials using AutoCAD Electrical and other software applications
  • Designs operator interface systems including pushbuttons, switches, lights, and HMIs
  • Develops control algorithms and machine sequencing primarily using ladder logic or high-level programming languages
  • Collaborates project requirements with Project Manager, Sales Engineer, and customers
  • Reviews the scope of supply and functional specifications of the equipment
  • Provides cost-effective control system options and cost estimates to Sales Engineer
  • Specifies components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, light curtains, pushbuttons, switches, lights, terminal blocks, fuses, motor starters, circuit breakers, safety devices, power supplies, cable, wire, fittings, and related components
  • Guides assemblers and electricians during the build process
  • Reviews schematics and control system design with customers, answer technical questions, verifies the functionality of machinery to meet customer specifications
  • Observes and validate proper system operation during runoff
  • Interfaces machinery with existing plant control and/or data acquisition systems
  • Debugs, troubleshoots, and resolves control issues including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical problems

No supervisory responsibilities
10% travel

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of electrical design and programming of components with analog devices such as position transducers, capacitive transducers, pressure transducers, flow transducers, and proportional valves
  • Technical support experience of equipment after installation
  • Familiar with PID control theory and practical application
  • Proficient with the following technologies:
    • RSLogix 500 & 5000
    • FactoryTalk View
    • Siemens Step7
    • Siemens WinCC
    • EZWare 500, 5000, Plus (Maple System’s HMI)
    • Wonderware Intouch
    • AutoCAD Electrical
    • Microsoft Office

EDUCATION
BSEE preferred, or Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

$80,000 - $100,000 with full benefits, Medical, Tuition reimbursement, and Relocation assistance
