Product Development Specialist II

Develops and directs marketing programs for a significant product or product category. Compiles and evaluates research on the market's product requirements and identifies enhancements to current features and functionality. Establishes marketing strategies, including product direction, advertising, packaging, pricing, expense budgets, profit plans and future product development, to manage a product or product category's life cycle. Interfaces with engineers, designers, suppliers and customers to develop product requirements and specifications. Prepares and coordinates product introductions and updates. Has working knowledge and experience in own discipline. Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Provides technical support to discovery and development of new product ideas or strategic product extensions. Collects and classifies new product ideas or strategic product extensions to support evaluation of their potential to address customer needs and to achieve goals in revenue growth and market share. Captures specifications for product requirements and functionality. Supports the development of design briefs for new product ideas, including specifications, sketches and/or models to present a clear, focused concept for strategic consideration. Responsibilities are within the Product Development Support Function as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines. Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

The ERAS Product Management Specialist II works closely with the Product Manager and the business and technical teams. He/she is a contributor to the requirements specification deliverable, writes the business and functional requirements. This person understands web-based software applications as well as the business and ensures that there is integration between business and technology. He/She will bridge the technical and business worlds designing features that our users love.
The ERAS Product Management Specialist II support the Technology Implementation and Operations team. He/She asssits and constributes to understanding, prioritize, and implement the next set of features and requirements on the software product portfolio. The ERAS Product Management Specialist II will assist the Sr. Specialist and business specialist translating and defining business requirements and will be working with cross-disciplinary teams from IT, development, communications, customer/user support and business to ensure that requirements are accurate, sufficiently detailed and supported by market needs. The ERAS Product Management Specialist II has a strong desire to build and deliver a world-class, web based suite of products that support AAMC mission.

Responsibilities:

Product Software Development

  • Executes on the discovery phase of the SDLC through identifying possible feature/functionality needs, prioritizing a research roadmap, and completing on the research from both a business need and a value/ROI perspective.
  • Maintains a quality groomed backlog with prioritized user stories that are ready for execution by the development team.
  • Participates in the planning and delivery of sprints and releases and communicates timelines and activities to stakeholders and the business.
  • Assists overseeing the activities of the development team within the agile framework - produces artifacts as needed, participates in or manages "Agile SCRUM rituals/ceremonies," such as daily scrum. and ensures quality outcomes.
  • Helps creates user personas and use cases for target users and serves as a subject matter expert for their jobs, business processes, problems they want to solve, and outcomes they want to achieve.
  • Helps manage beta/pilot/early adopter programs to ensure successful adoption of a new product or feature.
  • Contributes to road mapping activities through needs assessment, feature ROI analysis, prioritization, and coordination of prerequisite functionality.
  • Participates in lean product management activities such as win/loss analysis, competitive analysis, and lean canvas creation.

Product Operational Support

  • Helps manage beta/pilot/early adopter programs to ensure successful adoption of a new product or feature.
  • Contributes to road mapping activities through needs assessment, feature ROI analysis, prioritization, and coordination of prerequisite functionality.
  • Participates in lean product management activities such as win/loss analysis, competitive analysis, and lean canvas creation.
  • Coordinates and leads User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in coordination with product specialists and application Helpdesk staff, as needed
  • Reports bugs found in product(s) through the appropriate channel.
  • Has the ability to demo the product(s) and explain product functionality
  • Categorizes and catalogues product feature/functionality requests that come in from business users and/or clients.
  • Efficiently manages multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Is able to create wireframes and/or prototypes to help describe desired functionality.

Cross Team

  • Work with employees from other departments, including communications, and technical support, to gather requirements and coordinate projects

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Technology.
  • 1-4 years of experience.
  • Preferred certifications: CSM, PMP
  • 2-4 years of software development and/or product management experience
  • Professional experience with business analysis, product requirements, use cases and user stories
  • Experience working multiple interdependent software products or a suite of software products.
  • Experience in Agile software development (SCRUM preferred)
  • Certified Scrum Master or Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork, ownership, initiative and integrity
  • Knowledge of product and software development software products, (MS Project, MS Visio, Basecamp, Confluence, Jira).
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is flexible to react to changing priorities with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a deadline-oriented environment is also critical.
