SUMMARY:
The Manager, Financial Reporting will be responsible for the preparation of the Club's external financial reporting. Provides guidance and leadership to support compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. Performs technical accounting research and makes recommendations for improving Club reporting processes and decision making. Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual workpapers and support for the tax provision calculations; provides information and problem resolution support to Club management; ensures delivery of Five Diamond Service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership to the function and / or staff, ensuring proper staffing and training levels of all team members with a focus on development and building bench strength while also complying with appropriate professional standards, laws, regulations and operating within the Club's mission, leadership values, and the members' interest; maintaining knowledge and awareness of new developments in the function, potential applications to further Club initiatives, and makes recommendations regarding the use of internal vs. external services, reporting on such activities, and proposals and managing ongoing vendor relationships.
Prepares and reviews the quarterly and annual reporting packages to the various Boards of Directors, Finance and Audit Committee, and regulatory agencies for review by Senior Management. Ensures all reporting is completed in accordance with assigned deadlines and meets the requirements for data accuracy and timeliness of filings; also acts as the primary liaison between the Club and the external auditors.
Researches recent accounting literature, prepares memoranda regarding technical accounting matters and the related impact to the Club's financial statements, and maintains professional and technical knowledge. Utilizes the research to draft footnotes to the audited financial statements annually for multiple legal entities. Assists with the establishment of accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models by making recommendations for improving the financial reporting practices and accounting standards.
Assists with the development of financial controls to ensure the integrity of the Club's closing process and financial function with an eye towards compliance requirements.
Prepares quarterly and annual workpapers and support to assist the Tax Manager with the tax provisions necessary for external reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, the completion of the annual investment summary schedule, the monthly deferred compensation portfolio reconciliation, and the monthly Red Rooster Investment Company and Blue Hen Investment Company reporting packages.
Completes and files required regulatory filings for AAA Northeast Bank and Subsidiary, including quarterly NMLS filing, annual New Jersey filing, and semi-annual Rhode Island Call Report.
Assists the Financial Accounting Director with annual compensation budget process for the Club. This includes maintaining the Club's budget tool weekly with information received from the Human Resources Department.
Responsible for completing a detailed review of the monthly accounting and reporting specifically related to Red Rooster Investment Company, Blue Hen Investment Company, Motor Club Insurance Company, Motor Club Insurance Captive, Motor Club Batteries, and Member Select Vacations. In addition, responsible for reviewing the quarterly regulatory filing related to Motor Club Insurance Company and the annual filing related to Motor Club Insurance Captive.
Responsible for maintaining confidential account analysis, including completing various net present value calculations for President & CEO, Executive Vice President & CFO, and Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration.
Works with business units to ensure issues related to the reporting process and accounting issues are addressed and resolved timely. May assist with the explanation of financial information in order to support sound operating decisions and educate management on the financial implications of decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, with a minimum of 6 years' accounting experience, including 3 years' experience preparing financial statements. CPA is preferred but not required. Must have 1 to 2 years of experience developing and implementing internal procedures and controls. Excellent mathematical skills, analytical skills and reasoning ability required, with the ability to analyze procedures and make recommendations for enhancement. Strong written skills required to draft documents and memorandums as well as processes, policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills and attention to details required. Must be able to multi-task, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and strives to meet all deadlines. Ability to work closely with all levels of staff to achieve department goals. Ability to develop and maintain a team atmosphere required. Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong PC skills with complete familiarity of the Microsoft Office Platform.
