Job Description

The Senior Data Architect develops core enterprise data architecture principles. Governs projects for adherence to standards and to approved architectures. Develops domain specific, e.g. master data or advanced analytics, architecture pattern, as required. Partners with industry analysts, software vendors and internal stakeholders to develop data architecture strategies. The Senior Data Architect has an advanced knowledge of networking concepts, object-oriented technology, data warehousing, and relational database engines. The successful candidate will have an advanced proficiency in analytical, project planning, negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral). This position is primarily remote with occasional on-site in Arlington, VA.

Position Responsibilities:

    • Developing enterprise data architectures and transport methods that support the flow of data across the information lifecycle
    • Strategizes and manages the evolution of architectures from legacy to hybrid to cloud.
    • Leads teams in defining data flows across the data lifecycle and documenting at the SIPOC (suppliers, [data] inputs, process, [data] outputs, and customers) level
    • Knowledge of architectural options that integrate legacy and big data / data lake technologies.
    • Experience developing advanced ETL processes
    • Experience working with Azure Data Lakes and building Data Catalogs
    • Knowledge of data integration tools and how they fit into the overall architecture – particularly in the integration of legacy mainframe environments.

Qualifications:

    • Requires a BA or BS degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited institution in a management or technical discipline – Computer Science, Information Technology (related degrees will be considered) and 8+ years of high-level data architecture roles as a strategic partner and SME.
    • Knowledge of architectural options that integrate legacy and big data / data lake technologies.
    • Knowledge of data integration tools and how they fit into the overall architecture – i.e. Informatica, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue particularly in integrating legacy mainframe environments.
    • Extensive experience in evaluating existing data architectures
    • Developing technology roadmaps
    • Managing enterprise requirements
    • Vocabulary development & management
    • Building data flows
    • Enterprise data vocabularies and relationships
    • Experience working with clients face-to-face
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
