Software Quality Assurance Test Engineer

ASG is seeking Test Engineers in support of our new VIPER program delivering innovative software solutions for our customer the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). As a test engineer, you will use your experience to work with scrum team to evaluate software developed for USCIS. Apply specific functional knowledge, working/general industry knowledge to improve software quality.
The Test Engineer works collaboratively with an Agile DevSecOps team to perform a range of quality assurance activities and test functions to deliver development and design that is compliant with the Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for the United States. Responsibilities include:
- Develop and Implement automated tests, create test cases and test plans, and perform manual functional tests when required.
- Performing both functional and non-functional and 508 testing of the developed solutions.
- When developing or modifying ICT (Information and Communications Technology), ensuring that it will remain consistent with the original ICT’s level of Section 508 conformance prior to the upgrade, substitution, or replacement.
- Validating ICT deliverables for conformance to the applicable Section 508 requirements within each iteration and release that contains user interface functionality.
- Provide subject matter expertise and section 508 compliance auditing support.
What You Will Do:
- Develop a test process capable of validating conformance to all applicable Section 508 standards for software functionality delivered.
- Demonstrate conformance to the applicable Section 508 standards (including WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA Success Criteria) by conducting testing using the DHS Trusted Tester for Web Methodology Version 5.0 or successor versions.
- Assist with crafting of the validation steps (both positive and negative testing) for user acceptance testing on an as-needed basis.
- Verify that the 508 automated tests meet USCIS’s functional and non-functional requirements to ensure that the 508 testing is appropriate, adequate, and effective and that it mitigates key risks.
- Design and develop test automation scripts using test automation guidelines.
- Research issues in software through testing and recommend free and COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) tools that improve code quality and compliance scores
- Collaborate with QA Analysts and Software Developers to develop solutions.

What We Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or Engineering or other STEM related degree. In lieu of degree, will consider combination of training, certifications, and years of experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience.
- Experience testing models using engineering principles to design, implement and test systems to ensure that they meet the required capabilities.
- Experience developing test scenarios, evaluating effective test approaches for verifying software against program objectives.
- Experience reviewing and evaluating test documents (test and evaluation master plan (TEMP), test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, test data, etc.),
- Experience with testing applications in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience with using issue and project tracking software.
- Knowledge of 508 compliance requirements and testing.
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
Certifications:
- T&E Certification and/or an industry recognized applicable Cloud Computing and/or 508 vendor certifications.
Even Better:
- DHS 508 certification.
- DHS Office of Accessible Systems and Technologies (OAST) Certification.
- Previous experience with DHS Trusted Tester Methodology for Web and Software Version 4.0.
- Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services), Apache JMeter, Artillery.io, Cypress, Cucumber/Jasmine/Selenium, Junit, RCov, RSpec, SoapUI, 508 testing tools, and Fire eye.
- Previous DHS or USCIS experience.
