Job Description


The Desktop Support II Technician's role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.



  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolves complex desktop problems for end-users 
  • Monitors the status of servers and assures that all backups are being completed without errors
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user’s network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, projectors, software, and other products.
  • Install, configure and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems  
  • Maintains pc parts, hardware, and software inventory
  • Create and maintain active directory users accounts – network directories, e-mail accounts, and printer selection
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to resolve any software, network, or hardware related issue
  • Collaborate with other IT help desk team members to oversee the daily performance of computer systems
  • Create or modify phone extensions as needed
  • Record meter readings for printers and copiers
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, emails regarding desktop issues and record all daily activities using Interstate’s ticketing system
  • Lift general computer equipment; desktop computers, monitors, and printers
  • Must hold a valid driver license to travel between our site offices and data center
  • Productivity is determined by the number and quality of completed projects.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised






Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and 4 years experience in the related field.

CompTIA A+(Plus) Certified

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.  
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to research PC and software issues and products as required
  • Keen attention to details




  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 
  • Excellent knowledge of PC internal components 
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation
  • Web browsers; Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Chrome
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Antivirus, Spam and Spyware software
  • Knowledge of major mobile phone carriers to troubleshoot company-issued mobile phones
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365
  • General understanding of VMWARE and TCP/IP, and WiFi networks
  • General understanding of Microsoft Networking including Microsoft File and Print Sharing (windows 2012/2019)



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



A valid Driver’s License is required.
