Senior Project Engineer/Manager

Manages project teams through all phases of the systems development life cycle (SDLC). Creates all project artifacts. Uses project management methodology (PMBOK) and tools to ensure scope definition and project objectives are on time and on budget. Communicates project status to team through regularly scheduled status meetings. Works closely with all stakeholders in creating a Project Charter, project risk analysis, developing business process flow diagrams, creating project requirements, design specifications, testing, implementation and post assessment. Thoroughly familiar with all artifacts and documentation for all phases of the SDLC. Mentors and develops other project leaders. Versed in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. Assists development team with application architecture and infrastructure improvements and implementation. 5 years experience working on EMV Payment, ERP and Infrastructure projects.

  • Works closely with 7-Eleven marketing, field personnel and management, vendors, and technical groups to develop project artifacts and understand business processes and work-flows in the convenient store arena, specifically accounting and general ledger
  • Works closely with customers and application developers to document technical and functional business and system requirements
  • Assists application developers and infrastructure engineers in converting requirements to system specification documents 
  • Provides presentations to executive management on new system proposals, business processes, project status, cost justification/business case
  • Mentors project team and business analyst process work-flows, project methodologies, and financial justification models
  • Assist in meeting expense and EBITDA goals for projects 
  • Develops and manages innovative project plans and financial models to ensure maximum ROI, IRR and payback period for all projects
  • Recommends and implements business, software and technical solutions based on positive ROI and IRR
  • Ensures new systems, updates and enhancements meet all SOX and PCI requirements and includes both as requirements in project planning. Includes audit and control as part of project team
  • Creates project charter, statement of work, and initial cost/benefit justification for all projects
  • Completes process reviews to determine as-is and to-be work-flows to be used as a foundation for system requirements and development 
  • Manages and communicates project status through entire systems development life cycle
  • Conducts regularly scheduled project status through entire systems development life cycle
  • Conducts regularly scheduled project status meetings and communicates results to project teams, customers and stakeholders
  • Coordinates and oversees testing and implementations of all software and hardware projects 
  • Proficient on at least 3 development platforms
  • Develops guidelines for measuring project success and communicates to project team, customer and senior management
  •  Manages and mentors project team members through all project phases
  • Tracks resource usage and time-lines during all phase of the project life cycle using MS project
  • Ensures documentation is completed and made available to customer base prior to implementation
  • Assists developers with application architecture and coding (standards) on multiple platforms
  • Seeks feedback from team, customers and senior management on areas for improvement as part of post implementation
  • Completes technical training required to support existing technology
  • Stays abreast of technology updates in Point of Sales and Fuel business arena
  • Develops soft and interpersonal skills in order to lead and manage cross functional business and development teams PMP certification


  • Requires extensive sitting, viewing and utilizing computer equipment, keyboarding, listening and speaking with telephone equipment, walking and occasionally lifting 10 to 40 lbs
  • No exposure to adverse working conditions


  • Bachelor's Degree and PMP Certification


  • 10+ years experience as a project leader in an Information Systems environment
  • 10+ years experience working with a project management methodology and developing project artifacts
  • Experience building requirements in a JAD session
  • Understanding of process and work-flow tools and technologies
  • Experience building project plans with MS Project
  • Experience building financial justifications and cost/benefit analyses and business cases
  • Experience building a PMO
  • From a desing perspective, experience with the following technologies:

Languages - SQL, PL/SQL, Delphi, Python, Web/App Server - WSDL SOAP, XML Web Service, XML, HTML


Web Development Tools - Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, 


Database: Oracle, SQL, Srvr
