Job Description Are you a cannabis industry professional excited to build the NYC recreational cannabis market while spearheading social justice issues? Do you have an operational background and expertise in licensure application processes for recreational cannabis? Who we are: 64 Squares Strategy is an electoral and issue advocacy consultancy launching a cannabis practice in New York City in anticipation of adult-use legalization. At the onset, the practice will serve operators and investors as they obtain licenses and quickly grow to support clients as they build operations -- we are hiring a Director of Client Management to manage a portfolio of clients during the licensing phase. We recognize that the cannabis industry has a tremendous opportunity to correct historic injustices and have woven community engagement and social justice into the core of our business.
Additionally, 64 Squares is partnered with the Kingfisher Center for Cannabis Education, a 501C-3 organization that gives licensees the opportunity to provide vocational training to community members, creating a path for local citizens to benefit financially from the cannabis industry. What you would be doing: As Director of Client Management, you would own and manage the client portfolio consisting of license applicants at various stages of the application process. You will manage communications between clients and associated stakeholders, including vendors, government representatives, community leaders, real estate professionals, and others as appropriate to the application stage. You will develop thoughtful relationships with all parties in your purview, representing both the 64 Squares and client brands.
We will count on you to maintain forward progress on all applications in the portfolio and proactively work to drive through application milestones. Who you are: You have deep knowledge of local and state commercial cannabis markets, both medical and recreational. You have built out operations for recreational cannabis businesses in a new market, and you have experience running the licensure application phase. You have experience managing complex processes involving a variety of people within rigid deadlines.
You are informed of the policy and political terrain around recreational cannabis. You might also have experience in business development/marketing. If you have exposure to working with cannabis brands and reaching decision-makers as a vendor, that would be a plus.

Note: This role can start remotely and would require relocation to NYC by mid 2021.
