Job Description
Position Summary:Hilscher North America, Inc. is seeking an experienced Distribution Channel Sales Manager to manage the Sales and the Distribution Channels for Hilschers line of end user products in the Region East of the Mississippi. The position will require the ability to manage Distributors in addition to identifying opportunities and leading the overall Sales activities in the Region under the direction and guidance of Management. Position can be located remotely, i.e., East of the Mississippi and near a major airport, due to 60-70% regional travel to customer locations. However, there is the expectation that candidates within 35 miles of Lisle, Illinois will be based in the office. Occasional travel to Germany for product training as required.Duties:Managing Distributors
  • Identify key partners within the organization and maintain regular communication
  • Identify, promote, and support activities within the organization
  • Monitor and report activities and sales
  • Maintain an opportunity pipeline for regular discussion and review with management
  • Other reporting as required and/or assigned
Sales
  • Initiate and conduct direct sales activities in all territories either with Distribution or until Distribution is placed
  • Achieve Annual sales and activities Goals and Targets
  • Create and follow-up quotations (to Distributors and Customers) within established guidelines
  • Generate, conduct, and maintain activities in CRM (Goldmine)
Product Knowledge
  • Position is expected to have a working knowledge of solutions (hardware and software) to be able to sell directly to customer or support Distributor sales activities. Taking time to read, view and learn all applicable manuals, literature and presentations is mandatory (company or industry specific).
  • Gain hands-on product proficiency to be able to demonstrate products to either potential customers for sales purposes or Distributor personnel for training purposes.
  • Gain and maintain a general knowledge of competitive products, activities, and conditions in the assigned territory.
Miscellaneous Activities
  • Represent the company at industry seminars.
  • Act in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • Support and contribute to the growth of the company
  • Participate in international meetings as required (e.g., Germany)
  • Participate in and support trade shows as required
  • A working proficiency of Microsoft Office Tools is mandatory. Utilize administrative software tools provided by company: Goldmine, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Navision, or similar programs.
  • Attend product training as required
  • Create and deliver presentations (in PowerPoint) for customer and Distributor training.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Technical Sales to manage and grow a business
  • Bachelor's degree required: preferably in an Engineering, science, or related field
  • 5 or more years experience in component technology sales
  • Self-starter, motivated, team focused and results driven
  • Strong presentation, organizational, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently exceeding corporate goals as well as strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing techniques
  • Ability to develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions and participating in educational opportunities
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to the job and Hilscher
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, Microsoft Navision and Goldmine
  • Up to 75% travel within your assigned region of the United States
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Desired Experience:
  • Knowledge of industrial communications protocols; Profibus, DeviceNet, etc.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet protocols; EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, etc.
  • PLC knowledge would be helpful
  • Knowledge of process or factory automation helpful
