The location of the manufacturing and processing facility is located in an industrial district in Kalkaska, MI, approximately 25 minutes east of Traverse City, known for its natural beauty, wineries, breweries, amazing food and outdoor adventure.
Requirements for Live Resin/Hydrocarbon Extraction Specialist
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred. Higher degree desirable but not expected. Associates degree acceptable with sufficient experience. Candidates with exceptional experience and skills in lieu of a degree will be considered.
3+ years experience with cannabis extracts and concentrates, including live resin, required; ability to carry out hydrocarbon extraction, utilizing sophisticated extraction equipment (preferably ETS but other experience with closed loop systems is acceptable); and to carry out subsequent post-extraction processing steps (refinement, formulation, lab testing, packaging);
1+ years experience with separations, isolations fractionation required.
1+ years experience with natural cannabis terpene recovery/isolation and reintroduction; excellent skills /experience creating formulations that are diluted/”flavored” only with terpenes/diluent from the material being extracted; experience with THCa crystallization; creating Live Resin, Cured Resin and Distillate products including Live Badder/Budder, Live Sugar, Sauce/HTFSE, Shatter, Wax, and Distillate.
1+ years experience formulating extractions for use in vaporizer cartridges
2+ years experience utilizing refinement equipment, including but not limited to distillation equipment (short path, wiped film, thin film), vacuum pumps, glassware, rotary evaporators, chillers hot plates.
Full proficiency in METRC preferred.
Experience with, and ability to adhere to, current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) and Good Manufacturing Experience (cGMP) standards.
Ability to document all manufacturing activities consistent with cGMP.
Ability to maintain and work in immaculate FDA clean room-like environments.
Ability to ensure all testing requirements and quality standards are met.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine and preventative maintenance and testing for all equipment, as well as to keep up to date documentation for all equipment;
Ambitious, self-motivated individual who stays current with new practices and developments in the cannabis extraction industry and is focused on improving formulations, processes efficiency.
Technical problem-solving skills in a processing plant environment
Ability to follow SOPs with scientific precision and perform all technical procedures adhering to operational, technical and internal quality control policies and guidelines;
Attention to detail in all aspects of job responsibilities, including good documentation practices, strict adherence to SOP and Manufacturing Batch Record instructions, equipment and area hygiene and safety, cGMP gowning requirements, release versus quarantine of all manufacturing materials, general labeling requirements, etc.
Experience maintaining strict inventory records and controls for all plant material, chemicals, other supplies and equipment used in the facility;
Experience maintaining material safety data sheets for all chemicals and products used. Understanding of OSHA guidelines for workplace safety and hazardous materials.
Ability to accurately and precisely operate laboratory scales and other precision measurement devices;
Ability to manage weekly and daily production schedules, and to optimize day to day in the processing lab,
Ability to maintain a clean working environment, which includes regular cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment and facility;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage high-stress situations, to be flexible and adaptable, and to work a varying /expanded schedule including nights and weekends as necessary.
Excellent mathematical and scientific calculation skills.
Ability to work quickly without compromising accuracy
Must have manual dexterity and be able to perform repetitive techniques accurately and consistently, stand for long periods with frequent bending and stooping, lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds without assistance.
