The Sinus Institute Nurse will assist with all procedures performed at the Sinus Institute of Southwest Florida. Provides safe, quality patient care in the Sinus Institute of Southwest Florida Procedure Area (Pre-procedure, during procedure, post procedure). Accountable for the assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To: * Manages day to day operations of the Sinus Institute's Procedure Suite. * Facilitates efficient operations by ordering and maintaining stock of all medical supplies, instruments, equipment and medicines used in SISWF. * Prepares the procedure suite for each case with proper set up of instruments, medicines, suction equipment, navigation equipment, patient CT scan disc, sinus balloons, RAN needles, pledgets, and any other equipment required by the physician. * Contacts patient via telephone (must talk to patient directly), the day before patient is scheduled for procedure.
Reviews pre-procedure instructions with patient and confirms patient's scheduled appointment date and time. * Confirms that Informed Consent has been obtained and is in the patient's medical record. * Assesses patient status on admission, and on a continuing basis during procedure and prior to discharge. * Provides safe, therapeutic, quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities. Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge. Documents interventions and patient's responses in electronic medical record (EMR). * Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information, including the physician, management or other staff. * Initiates "Time Out" on all patients at beginning of procedure. * Assist physician during the procedure, (handing instruments to physician, assisting with balloon inflation, calibrating patient to navigation equipment, maintaining and monitoring other equipment used during procedure). * Obtain, monitor, and document patient's vital signs pre and post procedure and notify physician of any results that are not in the norm. * Ensures safe disposition of patient post procedure.
Including providing post procedure instructions, contacting patient via telephone (must talk directly to patient) one day post-procedure, and confirming patient's one week post- procedure appointment. * Once procedure is completed and patient is discharged; cleans and sterilizes all equipment used and turns over/sets up the procedure room for next patient. * Tracts the individual patient equipment used during procedure. Completes and submits the appropriate medical equipment billing form to Practice Administrator. * Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for confidentiality (HIPPA), Infection Control, Safety (OSHA), attendance, punctuality and code of conduct. * Other duties as assigned. Education/Certification/Licensure: * Nursing education from an accredited nursing program. * Maintains current State of Florida RN licensure. * Maintains CPR certification. Experience: * One year medical surgical nursing experience required.
Surgical/OR nursing experience preferred. Skills: * Ability to apply and modify the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. * Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions. * Ability to develop and maintain quality assurance. * Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations. * Ability to communicated effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, with physicians, staff and management.
