Job description

Job Description
Senior Project Engineering role in the Corporate Cylinder Support Group with the responsibility to lead and execute on a broad range of moderately to highly complex projects primarily associated with Capital Expenditures. Projects will include equipment procurement and installation; facility upgrades (new builds, renovations, additions); process improvements; acquisitions and consolidations; WI new product development and modification projects; and other equipment, process, and facility enhancements. Projects will be stand-alone projects or portions of a larger project managed by others. Engineer to actively participate in facilities continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives (Kaizens, 2P, etc). Engineer expected to work with Commercial, Marketing, Finance, IT, Operations, EH&S, Security, QC, Supply Chain, Regulatory and other applicable personnel and groups as necessary to achieve project goals.

    • Develop project scope and objectives
    • Develop/manage budget and schedules
    • Direct and support project team
    • Identify and manage project risk and issues
    • Communicate project status/metrics/etc to stakeholders and senior management
  • Troubleshoot and provide support to other departments as necessary (Sales, multiple manufacturing facilities, etc.)
  • Design & develop new products through New Product Development process

Desired Experience
  • Comfortable with direct, on shop floor interaction for problem solving, planning and project mgmt.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and self-driven
  • Sound decision making skills & problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of computer based software (i.e, ACAD, SolidWorks, PLC) desired
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) & Adobe Acrobat
  • Manufacturing background with capital project experience is highly desired. Examples include equipment selection, procurement, and installation; process / manufacturing improvement projects; and facility acquisition, relocation, and closure projects.
  • Fundamental knowledge of machine design and operating principles
  • Fundamental knowledge of machine repair and trouble-shooting practices
  • Fundamental knowledge and/or ability to familiarize oneself with product design codes and standards (DOT, ASME, NBIC, NFPA, CGA, EN, etc)
  • Fundamental knowledge and/or ability to familiarize oneself with product and process design techniques (APQP, Flow Charts, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, ISO, etc.)
  • Travel varies, but can reach 50%.
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering (ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, or Welding preferred)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of related project experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD.
