Job description

JOB SUMMARY

  • The CV Sonographer performs diagnostic cardiovascular examinations per physician orders and according to department protocols.  Generates preliminary reports for physician interpretation. Reviews physician reports, charts and charges procedures electronically. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care. Effectively interacts with patient and their significant others and family members, while maintaining professional standards. Interacts with Cardiologists and referring physicians according to applicable departmental policies regarding critical findings.  Interacts with team leaders and managers to discuss significant findings, clinical situations, workflow status and equipment malfunctions.  Often works without direct supervision and must have outstanding work ethics and integrity. Must be registered in either Adult Cardiac or Vascular Sonography by ARDMS or CCI.  Must acquire CMEs as required by professional registries and by national lab accreditation.  Is expected to be dependable and responsible and to comply with all personnel policies set forth by Hendrick policy.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS

      • Minimum Education
      • High School Diploma
          • Minimum Work Experience
          • 1 year on the job training or graduate of accredited ultrasound school.
              • Required Licenses/Certifications
              • RDCS or RCS in adult echo or RVT or RVS in vascular ultrasound (Completed within 1 year of hire date)
                • CPR
                    • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
                    • Perform all cardiovascular ultrasound procedures that are available in Non-Invasive Cardiology.
                      • Master use of all equipment including ultrasound systems, PVR, BP monitors and computer systems.
                        • Attends all required training programs and staff meetings and completes computer based learning lessons. 
                          • Must be available for on-call status, as scheduled, after normal operating hours, on weekends and holidays.
