Title: Group Copy Supervisorย 

Location: New York, NYย 

Department/Discipline: Copyย 

The Group Copy Supervisor assists in creating a comprehensive copy platform for each assigned account. The Group Copy Supervisor works as a team with art directors to develop conceptual approaches to meet Client objectives.ย 

Primary Job Responsibilitiesย 

  • Assist in creating comprehensive copy platform for each assigned accountย 
  • Execute the copy component of jobs with minimal supervisionย 
  • Work as a team with art directors to develop conceptual approaches to meet Client objectivesย 
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of marketingย 
  • Manage team workflowย 
  • Provide strategic input into marketing/advertising initiativesย 
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Client's businessย 
  • Attend regular status meetingsย 
  • Attend relevant trade shows and share learning's with teamย 
  • Demonstrate understanding of market research to create test materials and be an effective research attendeeย 
  • Develop positive, productive relationships with appropriate members of Client/Agency team and demonstrate leadership qualitiesย 
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal business group departments such as Editorial and Project Managementย 
  • Demonstrate high level of professional craftsmanship and superior writing skillsย 
  • Be aware of, and familiar with, medical and scientific information that pertains to Agency brandsย 
  • Maintain awareness of current advertising, marketing, and other communicationsย 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in various forms of mediaย 
  • Provide constructive and direct on-going feedback and generate performance reviews for team membersย 
  • Manage, mentor and supervise Junior Copywriters and Copywritersย 
  • Present effectively and clearly communicate creative concepts to sell Agency work to Clientsย ย 
  • Follow jobs from startup into productionย 
  • Reviews/edits copy within group to ensure that it is accurate, on strategy and creatively excellentย 
  • Routes all copy to Associate Creative Director or Creative Director for review before it goes to clientย 
  • Functions autonomously on aย day to dayย basis; but involves supervisor in major decisionsย

Management Responsibilitiesย 

  • Assign work to assure project deadlines are metย ย 
  • Monitor overall workload to effect efficiency and assure that waiting or downtime is minimizedย ย 
  • Keep supervisor or department head apprised of any workload challenges/concerns on assigned team accounts that may necessitate hiring freelancersย ย 
  • Monitor, review and approve direct report's time sheets in terms of hours worked on specific jobsย 
  • Provide constructive and direct ongoing feedback to direct reportsย ย 
  • Evaluate performance of direct reports and complete and deliver performance reviewsย 
  • Help supervisor manage and resolve staff issues including performance, personal presentation and internal interactionsย 
  • Recommend adjustments/additions to the roles and procedures of the department to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency across all accounts and/or specific accountsย 
  • Help interview, train and orient new team members to the agency, department, and account(s) at the direction of department headย 
  • Provide ongoing guidance to all team members and be available to them as a resource for account/agency/departmental policies, procedures, etc.ย 

Qualificationsย ย 

  • College degreeย 
  • 5-7 years of Copywriting experienceย 
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experienceย 
  • Agency experience including 1 year of direct-to-physicianย 
  • Proficiency with word processing programsย 
  • Copywriter portfolioย 
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skillsย 

The range below represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of an Omnicom Health Group company in the United States. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.ย
