How much do wide area network jobs pay per year?
What is a Wide Area Network (WAN)?
What are some common challenges faced by Wide Area Network (WAN) engineers, and how can they be addressed?
What is the difference between Wide Area Network vs Local Area Network?
| Aspect | Wide Area Network (WAN) | Local Area Network (LAN) |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage Area | Extensive, spanning cities, countries, or continents | Limited to a building or campus |
| Speed | Generally slower due to long-distance data transmission | Faster, high-speed connections within a localized area |
| Technology | Leverages leased lines, satellite links, or VPNs | Uses Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or similar local technologies |
| Usage | Connects multiple LANs across large areas | Connects devices within a single location |
In summary, Wide Area Networks (WANs) cover large geographical areas and connect multiple LANs, enabling broad communication across cities or countries. LANs are confined to smaller areas like offices or homes, offering faster local connectivity. Both are essential in network infrastructure but serve different scopes and purposes.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Wide Area Network (WAN) Engineer, and why are they important?
