The Member Service Specialist is the face of the credit union to our members. This role is responsible for introducing members to new products, services and consumer loans and performing paying and receiving transactions, service and maintenance on existing accounts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Embody the Credit Union’s core values of Trust, Integrity, Teamwork and Making a Difference and model these values in all daily activity.
  • Use consultative selling techniques to analyze and provide solutions for members' financial needs and to make sales referrals to specialized areas of the credit union based on perceived and unperceived need.
  • Proactively makes outbound sales calls to inform members about a wide variety of financial services solutions that will meet their needs and deepen the member experience and relationship.
  • Open new membership accounts and business accounts. Make member directed modifications to accounts and perform paying and receiving transactions on members account.
  • When needed, represent the credit union at community events and be available to local businesses within the community when asked to do so.
  • Have strong knowledge of consumer and small business deposit accounts including compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Have strong knowledge of consumer lending products (including home equity) including experience with reading, understanding, and interpreting credit reports.
  • Present a professional image in dress, speech, behavior, and attitude to create a positive first impression.
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines as expected.
  • Complete other projects and/or responsibilities as added at manager's discretion.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a motivated, self-starter.
  • Experience meeting productivity goals while maintaining a passion for service, attention to detail, and effectively cross-selling credit union financial products.
  • Must have a minimum of two+ years retail sales and/or customer service experience.
  • Financial services experience preferred.
  • Previous teller and member service specialist and/or personal banker experience.
  • Bilingual skills required

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Able to cross-sell members and potential members on credit union products and services.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate tact and professionalism in representing WeStreet with members.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effectively follow-up and respond to common inquiries and issues from members.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts in practical situations.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and ten-key machine.
