About the Role:

The Welder 3 position is a skilled trade role focused on performing complex welding tasks to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components. This role requires precision and expertise in various welding techniques to ensure the integrity and safety of welded products. The Welder 3 will work closely with engineering and production teams to interpret blueprints and specifications, ensuring all welds meet stringent quality standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production schedules by efficiently completing welding assignments while adhering to safety protocols. Ultimately, the Welder 3 contributes to the overall success of manufacturing or construction projects by delivering high-quality, durable welds that meet or exceed industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified welding training program or apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional welding experience.
  • TIG and Orbital weld thin-wall stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, and aluminum to aerospace quality/NDT standards
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Ability to pass welding certification tests relevant to the industry or employer requirements.
  • Eligible to work on ITAR projects (lawful permanent resident of the United States as defined by 8 U.S.C.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Aerospace welding
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations related to welding.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced welding operations using techniques such as TIG, Orbital and brazing on a variety of metals including Inconel, aluminum, titanium and stainless steel.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to accurately execute welding tasks according to specifications.
  • Inspect and test welded joints for quality and structural integrity, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in safe and optimal working condition.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan welding sequences and troubleshoot any issues that arise during fabrication or repair processes.
  • Strong fit-up and purge techniques.
  • Grind, polish, and/or perform pre and post weld finishing as required

Skills:

The required skills enable the Welder 3 to accurately interpret technical drawings and apply various welding techniques to produce strong, precise welds. Proficiency in multiple welding processes allows the welder to adapt to different project requirements and materials. Attention to detail and quality control skills are essential for inspecting welds and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. Preferred skills such as experience with semi-automatic and manual welding systems and advanced certifications enhance efficiency and broaden the scope of projects the welder can undertake. Strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers, supervisors, and other tradespeople to achieve project goals.
