 Job Summary:

Baycrest offers a full spectrum of out-patient clinics and specialist services from dental, hearing, chiropody foot care, cardiology, ear, nose & throat care, cardiology, urology, dermatology, eye care, all conveniently located on one campus of care. This position provides nursing care in the Ambulatory Medical Specialty Clinics. Be a part of 16 different physician and nurse-led specialist clinics e.g. ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Wound Care, Cardiology and more

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, acts as clinical expert and resource and provides comprehensive, quality client/family centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge
  • Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, as well as treatments which fall within the RN’s scope of practice
  • Provides client-centred care within interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients
  • Ensures that each specialty clinic functions smoothly as part of an inter-professional team (physician, RPN, PSW, Admin.)
  • Work closely with medical speciality physicians to establish plan of care for patients 
 Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario (‘CNO’) is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (‘BCLS’) certificate, Level C - Automated External Device (‘AED’) is required
  • BScN required; Masters preferred
  • Foot Care Nurse Certification preferred, or willing to obtain certification within 12 months
  • Experience working in a busy ambulatory clinic environment,
  • Knowledge and experience working with people with Alzheimer’s/dementia, and responsive behaviours required
  • Experience working with patients with movement disorders required
  • Knowledge of echocardiography, e.g. contrast procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in wound care
  • Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for clients and families
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills – Meditech, Connecting Ontario, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
