Profile Review+ Manager Interview
Unit MST/ PCU(Med Surg Tele/PCU)
Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be DNU for CS AZ and Sacramento for 6 months.
Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year.
Unit MST/ PCU(Med Surg Tele/PCU)
- # of beds: 30 (we have three 10-bed units)
- Ratios: 1:5-6
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients Surgical: total hip & knee replacement, small bowel
resection,
- Hysterectomy, exploratory lap.
- Medical: MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempt, drug or
- Alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID
- Telemetry: chest pain
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Will need to be able to read and interpret telemetry. May be asked to precept nursing students.
Dysrhythmia exam on hire. Minimum of 1 year in MedSurg, prefer candidates with experience i
in telemetry. Must be willing to care for both MST/PCU patients
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: n/a
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds that include MST,
PEDS, & our Acuity Adaptable MCU unit which admits ICU/PCU/MST
- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: NAs take 10-15 patients. If no NA RN takes 3
patients and Provides primary care.
- RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Care for stable c-pap or bi-pap patients
- Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes. We have Remote Monitor Techs.
RNs do need to be able to Read their Tele strips
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12-hour shifts, 0700/1900 - 1930/0730
- Weekend Requirement Every other weekend, Friday and Saturday for Nights, Saturday and -
Sunday for dayshift.
- Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly
- Is there a call or standby requirement?: If low census, staff rotates standby turns. Travelers
may or may not be in rotation for low census depending on contract.
- Floating Requirements: Float into our Multi Care Unit & Pediatric unit to care for adult MST, also
float to our West Campus MedSurg Tele.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Currently can wear any scrub color except camouflage
- Unit/Department specific orientation: Attend hospital orientation, unit orientation based on
experience.
Must be willing to precept nursing students.
