Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

As an Apprentice Bartender, you will be responsible for assisting the bartender and maintaining the appearance of the bar.


Position: Hourly, Full-Time
Location: Gold Strike Casino 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One (1) year of experience as an apprentice bartender (preferably in a similar resort setting).

  • Money handling experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced, teamoriented environment.

  • Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixing and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

  • Knowledgeable of computers and Point of Sale (POS) systems.

  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.

  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform tasks.

This position may require strenuous physical activities and exposure to pipe, cigar, and/or cigarette smoking. An ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays may also be required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the bartender with the preparation of drinks, mixes, and garnishes.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of the bar area.

  • Maintain sufficient stock of all items and products in designated work areas.

  • Ensure proper setup, labeling, stocking, and delivery of alcohol, and nonalcoholic beverages, supplies, glasses, paper products, garnishes, and ice.

  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies, polish glassware and ensure equipment is in working order.

  • Perform opening and closing duties based on shift assignment.

  • Promote and maintain the highest level of service to all guests while staying alert to their needs and responding effectively to guest inquiries.

  • Resolve guest complaints within the scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, and notify the supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.

  • Perform other jobrelated duties as requested.
