Summary:
Wealthspire has a long and successful history of serving ultra-high net-worth multi-generational families. As a Senior Wealth Strategist, this role will join an experienced team in shaping Wealthspire's approach to helping multi-generational families understand the challenges and opportunities of managing their wealth through financial, estate and tax planning. This role partners with colleagues across the organization, as well as outside advisors, in strategically advising UHNW clients with estate planning, tax planning and multi-generational planning. This role is also responsible for keeping up to date on estate and tax laws and regulations that may impact UHNW clients and proactively draft alerts and provide both internal and public-facing thought leadership on estate and tax issues. This role will report to the Director of Wealth Strategy.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist Advisors and clients in providing strategic wealth preservation guidance.
  • Generate ideas regarding tax savings techniques and estate and business planning strategies to reduce income and estate tax as well as streamline business succession or liquidation planning.
  • Meet with UHNW clients and their Advisors to discuss current estate plan, transfer tax implications, specific family circumstances and apply specific expertise to address strategic opportunities for planning.
  • Help clients understand how different assets and sources of wealth should be used to maximize wealth for multiple generations and enhance their lives.
  • Proactively manage prospect pipeline and existing clients to collaborate with Advisor teams on generating innovative ideas to serve clients and manage changes within the family or in the tax law.
  • Review current estate plan and analyze opportunities to maximize wealth transfer for future generations.
  • Collaborate with the clients' attorneys, accountants, appraisers, or other trusted advisors to discuss and implement strategies and ensure a comprehensive financial, estate and income tax plan that addresses all the clients' goals.
  • Collaborate with clients' accountant in preparation of gift tax returns to ensure proper reporting and track gift and GST exemption available for future planning.
  • Propose special needs planning strategies to enhance a disabled family member's life while maintaining eligibility for government services and benefits.
  • Educate clients on potential asset protection strategies to protect family members from divorcing spouses or other creditors.
  • Support UHNW clients and their families in handling estate administration upon death of family member, analyze opportunities for post-mortem planning and help families understand how assets are being inherited.
Education
  • Provide education internally and generate up to date intellectual capital in the form of articles, videos, podcasts, and presentations.
  • Monitor updates in the law and draft timely alerts on estate and tax issues that may impact clients.
  • Pursue external speaking opportunities to network with centers of influence and provide visibility to the community to promote the Wealthspire brand.
Leadership
  • Initiative-taking thought leader regarding estate and tax planning and active leader within the advisor team for clients.
  • Function as a connector for the firm with centers of influence.
  • Raise the profile of the firm through publishing and speaking externally.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Wealth Strategy on strategy for building and growing the business.

Qualifications:
  • Law degree
  • Minimum of six years of UHNW estate and wealth transfer planning experience in a law firm or a wealth management firm. Must be able to review and explain estate planning documents, as well as design complex estate plans.
  • LLM in Tax a plus.
  • Advisor to high-net-worth clients at a wealth management firm a plus.
  • Specific expertise in philanthropy or business succession planning a plus.

What We Offer:
We're proud to offer a competitive salary, PTO & paid holidays, 401(k) with match, and more. The base salary range for this position is $250,000 $325,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
