Job description

The Opportunity: We are seeking a VMware Engineer to support the administration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of enterprise virtualization environments. This role is responsible for maintaining VMware infrastructure, ensuring platform stability and performance, and supporting critical business applications across production environments.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with VMware vSphere technologies, virtualization best practices, and infrastructure operations, along with the ability to collaborate across server, storage, and networking teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

  • Project Duration: 12+ Month Contract

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server environments
  • Manage virtual machines, templates, snapshots, and resource allocation across enterprise environments
  • Monitor and optimize VMware infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity
  • Configure and support VMware technologies including:
    • High Availability (HA)
    • Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)
    • vMotion
    • Lifecycle Manager
  • Perform capacity planning and resource optimization to support business growth and operational requirements
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and security updates to VMware environments
  • Collaborate with server, storage, and networking teams to support infrastructure integration and operational excellence
  • Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization-related incidents and performance issues
  • Support infrastructure modernization, migration, and virtualization initiatives
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and environment standards

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience administering VMware enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise with:
    • VMware vSphere
    • ESXi
    • vCenter Server
    • vMotion
    • HA and DRS
    • VMware Lifecycle Manager
  • Experience supporting SAN and NAS storage technologies
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server administration
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including:
    • TCP/IP
    • VLANs
    • DNS
    • DHCP
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification
  • Experience with:
    • VMware Horizon
    • VMware NSX
    • VMware vSAN
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including:
    • AWS
    • Azure
