Chief Financial Officer

Company: Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMA Foundation) Location: Valley Forge, PA Job Type: Full-Time Department: Business Office Reports To: President

Job Description

Valley Forge Military Academy and College is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations of the institution.

Position Overview Responsible for financial planning, management, and oversight of the institution. This includes budget development and execution, daily business operations, cash management, investing school funds, risk management, insurance programs, auxiliary enterprises, contracted services, audits, government reporting, and contracts administration. Works closely with the Board of Trustees on managing and investing school funds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting (short- and long-range), and execution
  • Oversee daily business office operations including accounting, payroll, purchasing, and compliance
  • Manage and invest operational, restricted, and endowed funds
  • Direct risk management and insurance programs
  • Supervise financial functions for auxiliary enterprises and contracted services
  • Coordinate with external auditors and prepare/file required federal and state financial reports
  • Serve as Staff Officer for Board committees (Audit, Budget & Finance, Investment) and member of Executive Policy Board
  • Provide financial reports and presentations to leadership
  • Oversee contracts administration process
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business (advanced study preferred) with strong knowledge of GAAP. CPA strongly desired.

Experience:

  • Strong financial management background, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Proven success in budget planning and execution
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, and computer systems skills
