Job Summary:
Pop-Up Talent is seeking an experienced Database Architect to lead the design, optimization, and governance of an on-premise database ecosystem. The role involves architecting scalable database solutions and implementing robust data governance practices to support high-performance analytical workloads.
Responsibilities:
โข Architect and maintain scalable ClickHouse clusters for highโperformance analytical workloads
โข Design and operate robust HBase clusters
โข Implement ingestion and streaming patterns for NoSQL analytics (e.g., Kafka pipelines)
โข Architect highly available, scalable deployments of SQL Server or PostgreSQL on physical and virtual servers
โข Lead schema and data modeling (OLTP and analytical), including normalization, partitioning, indexing, and lifecycle design
โข Implement database access governance, least privilege and auditing
โข Partner with networking teams to design lowโlatency, high-bandwidth network architectures supporting large-scale relational and analytic workloads
Qualifications:
Required:
โข At least 8 years of architecture/engineering experience in onโprem enterprise environments
โข Proven experience architecting and operating ClickHouse clusters at scale
โข Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including HA/DR, tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication
โข Handsโon expertise with HBase internals (HDFS, region servers, ZooKeeper, compactions)
โข Strong systems engineering background: Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server
โข Proficiency with VMware/HyperโV virtualization and enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/NVMe)
โข Strong scripting/automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible
Preferred:
โข Bachelor of Computer Science or related technical discipline
โข Familiarity with MPP/onโpremise analytics ecosystems beyond ClickHouse/HBase
โข Any certifications in PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Linux, VMware, or Hadoop ecosystem
