Job description

The Commercial HVAC Service Technician provides technical support to customers through diagnostics, emergency service, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial HVAC, building control, and refrigeration systems. This role requires a highly skilled technician who is proficient in servicing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment and related systems (including large package units, chillers, boilers, make-up air, refrigerated storage, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

Service Calls & Repairs

  • Respond to service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate with the customer and advise on appropriate needs to repair systems and maintain functionality
  • Repair or replace defective components and complete all required documentation
  • Communicate status of service with customer upon completion and obtain signature for services performed

Preventative Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) for assigned clients efficiently and accurately
  • Inspect equipment, identify abnormalities, and communicate findings clearly to clients
  • Complete detailed work orders and obtain client signatures for services performed

Professionalism & Technical Expertise

  • Committed to providing excellent service and building strong relationships
  • Committed to continuously expanding trade knowledge to include equipment operation, trade practices, new technology, and updated processes.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and technical accuracy

Client Service

  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, preparation, and follow-through
  • Address client concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as needed

On Time - Every Time

  • Demonstrate strong time management and reliability
  • Arrive on schedule, complete tasks efficiently, and check in/out with clients as required

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in HVAC service, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair (commercial preferred)
  • HVAC Journeyman or Master's License
  • EPA-approved CFC Certification
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle, theory, electrical,
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment such as but not limited to:
    • Package units (up to and beyond 75 tons)
    • Air Cooled and Water-Cooled Chillers
    • Boilers
    • DX Split Systems
    • VRF
  • VRF service experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of current OSHA safety regulations and applicable building codes
  • Excellent communication, client service, and time management skills
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work skillfully with hands and tools
  • Lift and carry objects more than 50lbs
  • Good vision (natural or corrected)
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in varying environments

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Participation in an on-call dispatch rotation, including occasional evenings and weekends
