Job description

Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 INDEFINITE EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the CO Army Aviation Support Facility, National Guard.
The purpose of this position is to act as an Aircraft Mechanic and Technical Inspector (TI) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel.

Duties
Help
(1) Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations. Oversees installation of equipment for special missions. Expedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfigurations of equipment for changes in operational missions. Performs preflight, thru post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft.
(2) Ensures Aircraft Notebook (ACN) and historical aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and air worthiness of assigned aircraft. Provides technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies, experienced in-flight characteristics and system
malfunctions. Performs or assists in air crew debriefing.
(3) Clears Red X Status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Performs in-processing and final inspection of others' work on assigned aircraft and components and certifies by signature adherence to work procedures and quality standards established by applicable
publications. Participates in Maintenance Test Flights as a crew member or Technical Observer (TO), as required. May participate in operational flights as crew member or Flight Engineer. Makes decisions on a wide range of matters to ensure assigned aircraft is in the highest state of
readiness and that maintenance performed is in accordance with the highest standards of safety, quality and technical compliance.
(4) Serves as an aircraft line mechanic on the LUH72A/B airframes. Familiarization with the use of ACN is required, familiarization with the use of CAMMS, Airbus Orion, TIPI, and Safran Turbomeca Engine Portal is preferred. Duties include servicing, replacing, troubleshooting,
maintaining, and repairing aircraft IAW with the LUH CAMP, DA PAM 738-751,and CFR Part 91.409 (f)(3).
(5) Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that's a 3 or higher.
  • Relocation Incentive is available for only current federal employees. Will need a current appraisal in good standing.
  • Recruitment Incentive is for employees newly appointed to a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E-3 thru E-6
Compatible Military Assignment:
15 series MOS or are able to obtain it within two years of hire
1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.
2. An applicant's RESUME must provide, in detail, how they meet each specialized experience listed below. Resume must be two pages or less.
3. It must be documented with "from (mm/yy)" and "to (mm/yy)" dates and description of the specialized experience.
DO NOT copy each bullet listed below word for word and place into your resume; you must describe your personal experience as it pertains to each bullet.
You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume.
Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, modifying and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic aircraft systems.
2. Experience coordinating work with other mechanics and shops; scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the maintenance and repair of various Army aircraft and sub-systems.
Preferred experience and training:
- Possess an FAA A&P License or have the ability to obtain an FAA A&P License within 1 year.
- Have a minimum of 30 months continuous rotor craft maintenance experience.
- UH72A or B OEM/WAATS Qualification preferred.
Relocation and Recruitment Incentives
Eligibility:
  • Recruitment-Employee newly appointedto a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.
  • Relocation-Current employee who relocates to accept a position in a new geographic area. If you are eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that's a 3 or higher.

Subject to availability of funds and must be approved by TAG.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.

Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full time positions or termination of their employment.
