Senior Chemist - Process Design

Location: Medford, OR

The Senior product development Chemist will assist the laboratory manager, laboratory, sales, and customers with analytical and technical support. Due to the nature of exempt roles, work hours may extend beyond the standard schedule when necessary to meet organizational demands, leadership responsibilities, and business objectives. This may include occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the role and the needs of the business.

What you will be doing:

  • Establish the ability to perform analyses of trace metals of electronic gases and mixtures with a minimum of direction.

  • Perform routine maintenance or troubleshooting of ICP-MS instrumentation and sample preparation panels.

  • Develop new analytical methods for trace metals analysis of electronic gases.

  • Demonstrated project management skills to complete analytical projects on time.

  • Ability to analyze test data using robust data analysis techniques to achieve results.

  • Demonstrate safe laboratory skills in handling gases.

  • Strong teamworking skills to work effectively with product development laboratory personnel and with cross functional engineering groups.

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication to support project updates and final reports.

  • Develop new analytical instruments and methods to maintain state of the art analytical capability to support Linde's electronic gas business.

  • Provide technical support for plant and customer problems and issues.

  • Provide technical training to less senior laboratory personnel.

  • Follow published product development policies on laboratory workflow and safe workflow.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time per year to support project and plant analytical issues.

What makes you great:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field required. Advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of seven  years' experience in an analytical laboratory or three  years' experience with higher level degree.

  • Experience in ICP-MS sample preparation, ICP-MS operation and trouble shooting. Experience with GC, GC-MS, and FTIR, and other common methods of gas analysis is required.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time annually to support project and plant analytical projects or issues.

  • Fluent in Microsoft S/W and statistical software.
