About The Childrenโ€™s Nest
The Childrenโ€™s Nest is a licensed preschool and daycare center located in Blacksburg, VA. We provide a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children can grow, learn, and thrive. We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic Toddler Assistant Teacher to support our toddler classrooms (ages 9 months to 2.5 years) and contribute to a positive early learning experience.


Position Summary
The Toddler Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to implement daily routines, engage children in meaningful play and learning activities, and ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment.


Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in planning and leading age-appropriate activities.

  • Engage actively with toddlers in classroom play, exploration, and social-emotional learning.

  • Assist with diapering, feeding, and nap time routines.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom.

  • Observe and report developmental milestones and behavioral concerns to the Lead Teacher or Director.

  • Communicate positively with parents and guardians during drop-off/pick-up.

  • Follow all Virginia state licensing requirements and center policies.


Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Friendly, dependable, and patient with strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to lift and interact with young children safely.
