TEMPORARY FACULTY POSITIONS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware invites applications for several temporary, full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor.

Preferred qualications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a closely related discipline; well-qualied candidates with an M.S. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline will be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Experience teaching college-level courses such as intermediate algebra, college algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus at a college or university in the United States is required. Ability to teach high-enrollment (75-90 students), coordinated courses is essential, and ability to teach general education mathematics (quantitative reasoning/literacy) and/or intermediate courses such as discrete mathematics, differential equations, and/or statistics will be viewed favorably.

One or more successful candidates will teach in our innovative Mathematical Sciences Learning Laboratory (MSLL). MSLL integrates active learning and other evidence-based teaching strategies, principles of continuous improvement, learning technologies, and a collaborative instructional team. For these positions, experience with such teaching strategies will be viewed favorably.

Temporary faculty teach 12 credits per semester during the Fall and Spring semesters, work closely with other instructors in coordinated courses, and strive for excellence in teaching. The position comes with a competitive salary and benets. The one-year appointment will begin on August 16, 2026, and is renewable at most twice subject to department needs and satisfactory performance.
