Job Description: CFE Engine Mechanic 

Position Summary 

  • The CFE Engine Mechanic is responsible for performing inspection, disassembly, repair, overhaul, assembly, and testing support of Honeywell CFE738 turbofan engines in accordance with OEM manuals, FAA regulations, and company procedures. This role ensures engines meet all airworthiness, performance, quality, and customer delivery requirements. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform receiving inspections, induction, and documentation review of CFE738 engines. 

  • Disassemble CFE738 engines and modules following OEM procedures and repair station requirements. 

  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and detailed inspections of engine components. 

  • Identify damaged or unserviceable parts requiring repair, replacement, or engineering disposition. 

  • Perform module assembly and engine build-up including fan, compressor, combustor, turbine, gearbox, and accessory installations. 

  • Install and rig engine accessories, fuel controls, and engine systems. 

  • Support engine test cell operations including troubleshooting and performance adjustments. 

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering documents, and technical drawings. 

  • Maintain accurate work orders, inspection documentation, and traceability records. 

  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145 requirements, company procedures, and quality standards. 

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment. 

Required Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED required; Aviation Maintenance Technology school preferred. 

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred. 

  • 2–5 years of turbofan engine maintenance experience preferred. 

  • Experience with Honeywell CFE738 engines highly preferred. 

  • Knowledge of FAA Part 145 repair station operations and documentation. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering documents. 

  • Proficient with precision measuring tools, torque equipment, and borescopes. 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

  • Strong organizational and communication skills. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. 

  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and hands-on mechanical work. 

  • Ability to work in a shop environment including exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Previous experience in a Part 145 engine overhaul facility. 

  • Honeywell engine maintenance or overhaul training. 

  • Experience supporting engine test cell operations. 

  • Familiarity with TFE731 and HTF7000 engine platforms is a plus.
