Job description

We are seeking a Trust and Estate focused Tax Senior Accountant at Suggs Johnson with a strong background in trust, estate, and gift tax compliance. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys complex planning, values accuracy, and works well with high-net-worth clients.ย  The role is available in either our Greenville, SC or Anderson, SC offices.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management:

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepare and review fiduciary income tax returns (Forms 1041)

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepare estate tax returns (Form 706) and gift tax returns (Form 709)

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Analyze trust and estate documents to ensure proper tax treatment

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform tax research related to trusts, estates, and wealth transfer strategies

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assist with estate and gift tax planning and compliance projects

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Communicate directly with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Mentor and review work prepared by junior staff

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations and deadlines

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Manage multiple clients and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.

Qualifications:

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Minimum CPA eligible; EA also to be considered.

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Minimum [4] years of experience in public accounting with a focus on fiduciary and estate tax.

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with CCH Engagement and Axcess Tax a plus

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Proven experience in tax compliance, and planning for diverse clients.

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
