Familiarity with blueprints, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and safety regulations is essential, and certifications like journeyman status or OSHA safety training are often required. What are steam fitters?

Steam fitters are skilled tradespeople who install, maintain, and repair piping systems that carry high-pressure steam, gases, or liquids. Their work is crucial in power plants, factories, heating systems, and other industrial settings where steam or hot water is used for heating or power generation. Steam fitters read blueprints, assemble pipes, and ensure the systems operate safely and efficiently. They often work with specialized tools and must follow strict safety codes due to the dangers associated with high-pressure systems.
