 GRADING SUPERINTENDENT

We are searching for an experienced  Heavy Civil Grading Superintendent in the Regional Raleigh Area. If you are safety-focused,,team-centered, collaborative, and a talented heavy civil SUPER with experience with large sites, mass excavation, NCDOT projects, structures, and projects over $ 5 million ...  We have a great opportunity in NC we want to chat with you about! 

Construction Superintendents are responsible for the daily operations of a construction site from planning projects to overseeing their completion. Overseeing the means and methods, staffing, material, and equipment t needs. Duties vary depending on the type of construction each business conducts, but generally, tasks include scheduling work to proceed according to a strict timeline, conducting audits and checks to ensure that work corresponds with blueprints or client requests, and monitoring safety and compliance.

General Job Duties of a Superintendent:

  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
  • Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently
  • Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location
  • Participate in the management of daily operational issues, including maintaining schedules, planning and resource coordination, identifying and improving procedures, project staffing and ongoing project support including personnel, equipment and materials
  • Plan and conduct weekly field meetings to update field staff on current projects, staffing, and equipment moves
  • Assist the Estimating Department in the review of major and complex projects to be bid or negotiated when needed
  • Communicate effective to project management team, schedules, budget and look-a -heads
  • Maintain a written project documentation to include log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site
  • Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects (based upon project size and overall experience)
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
  • Set an example in keeping the project organized and clean, including meeting all safety standards, waste disposal and environmental protection
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil projects in a Superintendent capacity Required 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Strong Understanding of Means and Methods
  • Ability to read, comprehend and build out construction drawings, specifications, architectural drawings and legal documentation
  • Self-starter and self-manager
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated and proven leadership ability
  • Basic knowledge of software programs, such as Master Builder, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent ability to communicate and write reports and professional correspondence to vendors, clients, subcontractors etc.
  • Excellent reading comprehension for technical documents, such as safety regulations, assembly and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, especially when addressing customers, clients or project meetings
  • Quality control of the project to identify non-compliance with regulations or standards and the ability to suggest solutions for deficiencies or problems
  • Project portfolio consists of mass excavation,large-site, DOT projects,utility projects 

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
