Job Summary:
The EHS Training & Compliance Specialist is responsible for the strategic development, management, and execution of a comprehensive EHS training library. This role ensures that all employees-from the production floor to the executive suite-are equipped with the knowledge to operate safely and in full regulatory compliance. Beyond training, this individual acts as a core member of the EHS team, assisting with high-level specialist duties such as incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design, maintain, and update the library of safety training modules covering OSHA, EPA, and state-specific requirements (e.g., LOTO, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, HazCom).
- LMS Administration: Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to track completion rates, schedule recurring certifications, and generate compliance reports for leadership.
- Content Creation: Develop engaging training materials, including digital presentations, hands-on workshops, and "Toolbox Talks" tailored to specific manufacturing departmental needs.
- Effectiveness Auditing: Regularly assess the quality of training through post-training evaluations and field observations to ensure knowledge is being applied on the floor.
- Safety Culture Initiatives: Drive "Safety as a Principle" by leading cross-functional safety committees and employee engagement events.
- Process Optimization: Identify trends in incident data or training gaps to propose lean safety improvements that reduce risk without sacrificing production efficiency.
- Audit Programs: Participate in internal EHS audits and assist in the development of corrective action plans (CAPA) to close identified gaps.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment, with a heavy emphasis on training and adult learning principles.
- Advanced knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards. Experience with EHS software and LMS platforms.
- Strong ability to interpret data and trends to drive proactive safety measures.
- Exceptional public speaking and writing skills; ability to translate complex regulations into digestible, actionable instructions for a diverse workforce.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST).
- Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Experience in developing and implementing behavior-based safety programs.
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
