Climbing Arborist Trainee - Full Time

Job Summary:

The Climbing Arborist is responsible for performing advanced tree care operations, including climbing, pruning, and removal, while maintaining the health, safety, and aesthetics of trees. This role requires expertise in climbing and arboriculture techniques.


Key Responsibilities:


Tree Climbing & Pruning:

  • Learn how to climb trees using harnesses, ropes, and other equipment to reach work areas.
  • Use advanced pruning techniques to maintain tree health and structure.
  • Remove dead, diseased, or hazardous branches.


Tree Removal:

  • Safely dismantle and remove trees in sections using proper rigging techniques.
  • Operate chainsaws and other cutting equipment safely while aloft or on the ground.
  • Use ropes and other equipment to guide tree sections to the ground safely.


Equipment Operation:

  • Learn how to operate chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, and other tree care equipment proficiently.
  • Inspect, maintain, and ensure the safe use of climbing gear and rigging equipment.


Safety:

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
  • Identify hazards such as weak branches or proximity to electrical lines and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain clear communication with ground crew and other team members.


Job Site Cleanup:

  • Assist with removing debris, branches, and logs from the worksite.
  • Ensure the worksite is clean, safe, and presentable after completing tasks.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Physical fitness to climb, lift, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and mitigate job site risks.
