What is the SPI Exam?

The SPI Exam, or Sonography Principles & Instrumentation Exam, is a standardized test administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). It assesses a candidate’s understanding of the basic physical principles and instrumentation related to diagnostic medical sonography. Passing the SPI Exam is a requirement for obtaining credentialing in various sonography specialties. The exam covers topics such as ultrasound physics, Doppler imaging, and system operation. It is typically taken by students and professionals pursuing a career in medical ultrasound.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) Exam candidate, and why are they important?
