Job description

Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of construction projects within a refinery environment. This role ensures that projects are delivered safely on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, direct and monitor strategic plans consistent with overall profit and growth objectives
  • Coordinate with contracts department in developing and implementing contracts strategy.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts and subcontracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
  • Aid in jurisdictional disputes and negotiations as required by the NCC Labor Relations/Resource Manager.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client contacts to facilitate construction activities.
  • Maintain communications between jobsite customer and NCC management.
  • Ensure smooth transfer of information between office and field personnel.
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, and job sequencing revisions, as appropriate.
  • Ensure that safety performance, quality, schedule and cost guidelines are reviewed with project staff.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of Site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • During jobsite visits, perform walk-downs of the construction project observing all phases of the construction process, such as craft productivity of work in progress, quality of completed work, compliance with safety requirements, housekeeping etc. The ability to enter confined spaces, climb and wear all appropriate personal protection will be required.
  • Create job equipment/tool lists and coordinate delivery to job site with the Scheduling Manager or Field Service Department.
  • Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.

Job Requirements

  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Refining Operations or Construction
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience applicable to the role.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • PMP certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in refining or heavy industrial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of refinery operations, construction methods, and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
