Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly qualified Senior Training Specialist to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) and the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence (SMDCoE), home of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense School. 

In this role, you will help educate, train, and develop military and civilian leaders in Space and Missile Defense operations while supporting the development of Army doctrine for Space, High-Altitude, and Global Missile Defense missions. 

You will design and deliver individual and collective training programs that enhance Army readiness and support the Army’s Quality Assurance Program to ensure excellence in training, education, and leader development. Additionally, you will provide direct support to the Space Operations Training Division (SOTD) and the Army Space Cadre Basic Course (ASCBC), helping prepare Army Space professionals for current and future mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Training Specialist will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Army and Joint Space Operations, providing expertise on space capabilities and their integration into military operations 
  • Deliver instruction and facilitate training for one or more Space and Missile Defense School (SMDS) courses  
  • Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, course materials, training products, and instructional content  
  • Design and conduct training sessions, practical exercises, demonstrations, and student evaluations  
  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain education and training programs in accordance with TRADOC Regulation (TR) 350-70 and Army accreditation standards  
  • Conduct research on emerging threats, evolving space capabilities, and operational requirements to ensure training materials remain current, accurate, and mission-relevant  
  • Coordinate with SMDS training divisions and stakeholders to align course content with Army institutional training requirements and doctrine  
  • Conduct and support After Action Reviews (AARs), analyze findings, identify trends, and recommend updates to training content and delivery methods  
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of Army Space training and leader development programs  
  • Travel as required to support training events, exercises, and mission requirements

Skills and Experience

The Senior Training Specialist must have:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance  
  • Ability to travel up to 50% in support of training and mission requirements 
  • 12+ years of space related military experience as an SNCO or Officer 
  • Strong knowledge of Space Fundamentals, space-enabled capabilities, and their application to military operations 
  • Experience supporting Joint and Army Space Operations, including space mission areas, space organizations, and the integration of space capabilities into multi-domain and coalition operations 
  • Demonstrated understanding of military planning, operations, and doctrine.  
  • Knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP)  
  • Familiarity with the ADDIE instructional systems design model and adult learning principles 
  • Previous instructor, facilitator, or military training experience  
  • Ability to communicate complex space concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences  
  • Strong briefing and presentation skills, including the ability to engage senior military and government leaders  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel  
  • Experience in Army space operations; space mission areas; space organizations; and space integration into multi-domain operations, targeting, and the Army operations process 
  • Prior experience teaching or training military personnel

Education and Certifications

The Senior Training Specialistmust have the following:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 12+ years of space related military experience as an SNCO or Officer  

Preferred  

  • MOSQ: FA40, Space 200, ASCBC, ASCF, Space Control Operator, or other relevant space courses 
  • Previous instructor-facilitator experience; graduate of a military instructor training course (CFD-IC, ITC/SGITC, FIFC, ABIC, AFBIC, etc.)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
