Job description

Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.

We are looking for a Manager of Revenue Accounting to join our Finance & Accounting team as an individual contributor. This role sits at the center of our quote-to-cash architecture and serves as the financial owner of the revenue across our operational systems. You will combine deep technical accounting expertise with strong business systems judgment to ensure complex SaaS and Professional Services arrangements are structured, allocated, billed, and recognized accurately at scale.

Role Summary

This role will oversee the revenue recognition process across SaaS and Professional Services, ensuring the data flowing from Salesforce to NetSuite is complete, accurate, and audit ready. You will be the person who can interpret ASC 606 and work across Mark43's stakeholders, including Revenue Operations, Deals Desk, Professional Services, and FP&A.

The ideal candidate has a rare blend of technical revenue and financial systems expertise. You are equally comfortable writing a revenue memo, reviewing SSP methodology, applying fair value allocation concepts, driving system automations and process improvements, forecasting revenue and collections, and providing tactical advice to Revenue Operations and Deals Desk on the financial and systems impact of upstream changes to the sales process.

What You'll Do

Technical Accounting

  • Own the technical revenue accounting framework for multi-element customer arrangements, with deep application of ASC 606 across SaaS , Professional Services, renewals, expansions, modifications, credits, and bundled deals.
  • Determine performance obligations and ensure contracts are evaluated appropriately for distinct goods and services, timing of recognition, and allocation across arrangements.
  • Lead the company's approach to Standalone Selling Price (SSP) and allocation methodologies, including relative fair value allocation concepts used in practice to support consistent and defensible revenue treatment.
  • Oversee automated revenue recognition schedules in NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) and ensure revenue is triggered correctly based on subscription terms, billing events, project milestones, and time-based or delivery-based criteria.
  • Review non-standard deals and partner with Finance, Revenue Operations, Deals Desk, Legal, and Professional Services to ensure new commercial constructs can be accounted for cleanly before they go live.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close for revenue, deferred revenue, and related reconciliations, with a strong focus on completeness, accuracy, and exception management.
  • Maintain clear documentation of revenue policies, system logic, key judgments, and control points to support audits, internal controls, and scaling readiness.

Systems Governance

  • Own data integrity and reconciliation processes across Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced, NetSuite ARM, SuiteBilling, SuiteProjects, and Celigo integrations.
  • Identify gaps in system design, controls, or master data and drive fixes that reduce manual work, increase auditability, and improve the reliability of automated revenue outcomes.
  • Build and maintain exception reporting, reconciliation dashboards, and control checks that surface mismatches before they impact the close or forecasting processes.
  • Serve as a thought partner on future-state systems design, including how contract structures, billing models, and implementation workflows should evolve as the company scales.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner closely with FP&A to provide high-fidelity inputs for cash flow forecasting and revenue planning, including data used in Pigment models.
  • Collaborate with Professional Services  to ensure project delivery milestones, resource tracking, and time-entry behavior support accurate billing and revenue recognition.
  • Work with Revenue Operations to validate that quote, asset, subscription, and amendment data is created in a way that supports downstream accounting treatment.
  • Translate technical accounting requirements into actionable business systems requirements, partnering with integration owners to implement durable solutions.
  • Support external auditors and internal stakeholders with revenue analyses, system walkthroughs, policy documentation, and evidence tied to complex arrangements.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping teams understand not just what broke, but why it matters and how to prevent it in the future.

What You'll Need

We're looking for a Technical Revenue Manager with significant experience spanning both revenue accounting and business systems in a SaaS environment. In practice, that usually means 6+ years of experience in technical accounting, ERP administration, or a closely related function. This level of experience is important because the role requires independent judgment across contract interpretation, systems design, close support, and cross-functional decision-making.

Candidates who stand out in this role will bring:

  • Deep technical mastery of ASC 606, especially for multi-element arrangements involving SaaS subscriptions and Professional Services.
  • Strong command of SSP, allocation methodologies, and fair value allocation concepts in a recurring revenue business.
  • Advanced NetSuite experience, including hands-on work with Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), SuiteBilling, and SuiteProjects.
  • Experience working with Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA) and understanding how commercial objects, assets, and amendments flow into finance systems.
  • Experience owning reconciliations between source system data and accounting outcomes, especially where automation, integrations, and multiple systems are involved.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working directly in system records, reports, saved searches, and integration outputs to isolate root causes.
  • Experience partnering with FP&A to support forecasting, preferably including cash flow and revenue planning models in Pigment or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across Finance, Revenue Operations, Deals Desk, and Professional Services
  • CPA is required
  • Experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS company is strongly preferred.

People who thrive in this role also tend to share the following characteristics:

  • Humble, open, and curious. You ask good questions, challenge assumptions thoughtfully, and stay eager to learn.
  • Systems-minded and hands-on. You enjoy understanding how data moves and are comfortable getting into the details to solve problems.
  • Detail-oriented and disciplined. You know that revenue accuracy depends on getting the small things right.
  • Collaborative and pragmatic. You build trust across teams and know how to balance technical correctness with operational reality.

Location

Our team is based in New York City and we follow a hybrid model, with team members working from the office 2-3 days per week. We support flexible work within that structure and believe in high trust, high transparency collaboration.
